According to recent data from the Changsha Customs Authority, Hunan's exports of rail transit equipment reached 1.14 billion CNY in the first ten months of 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of 30.3%.

Hunan's exports of rail transit equipment were spearheaded by state-owned enterprises. These companies achieved export value of 790 million CNY, representing a sharp increase of 47% year-on-year, and accounting for 69.1% of the province's total over the same period. Private enterprises followed closely, with export volume rising 6.6% to 280 million CNY, jointly accelerating the exports of Hunan's high-end equipment.

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (Hong Kong SAR) has remained its position as Hunan's largest trading partner. In the first ten months, Hunan's rail transit equipment exports to Hong Kong SAR reached 220 million CNY, up 40.7%, accounting for 19.3% of the total. It was followed by Germany, Singapore, and Kazakhstan, with export growth rates of 69.6%, 2158.5%, and 28.6% respectively. During the same period, exports to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, the European Union, ASEAN, and other regions also saw substantial increase, reflecting a diversification in overseas markets.

With the continuous advancement of international cooperation in rail transit equipment and the implementation of localization production strategies of leading enterprises like CRRC, the export of components and parts for overseas assembly has become the mainstream approach for "going global." In the first ten months, Hunan exported 330 million CNY of locomotive parts for railways or tramways, up 7.1%. Exports of track fastenings, mechanical traffic management equipment, and related accessories reached 140 million CNY, surging 72.5%. In terms of complete vehicle equipment, exports of battery-powered railway electric locomotives reached 190 million CNY, surging 180%. Exports of AC motor-driven railway electric locomotives amounted to 200 million CNY, while that of inspection trains and track inspection vehicles for railways or tramways totaled 15.807 million CNY—neither category had seen any exports in the same period last year.

Zhuzhou has emerged as Hunan's primary city for exporting rail transit equipment, with export value reaching 1.03 billion CNY, a 29.6% increase. The city contributed over 90% of the province's total exports, demonstrating unparalleled dominance. In particular, the CRRC Zhuzhou Locomotive Co., Ltd. and the Zhuzhou Times New Material Technology Co., Ltd.—two leading enterprises with long-term commitment to overseas markets—have exported their products to over 60 countries and regions including Germany, Mexico, Australia, and South Africa. The two companies have maintained their export growth rates exceeding 20%, contributing over 70% to Zhuzhou's total exports.
