Changsha Customs Authority announced on May 25 that the export growth momentum of Hunan's "new three" products—electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products—remains strong, with total exports reaching 7.09 billion CNY in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 43.8%, setting a record high for the same period and achieving growth for 19 consecutive months. Among these, exports of electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and photovoltaic products increased by 36.8%, 41.9%, and 158.7%, respectively.
In the first four months, Hunan exported 1.79 billion CNY and 1.59 billion CNY of the "new three" products to the EU and ASEAN, respectively, representing increases of 183.8% and 121.1%. Among them, Brazil, Bulgaria, and Malaysia were the top three export destinations, with exports to Brazil growing by 168.8%, and exports to Bulgaria and Malaysia surging by 129.3 times and 167.6 times, respectively. During the same period, exports to countries such as Bulgaria, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Belarus grew by over 100 times.
Changsha, Zhuzhou, and Xiangtan are the main drivers of exports, accounting for 82.5% of the province's total exports of the "new three" products. During the January-April period, Changsha exported 4.4 billion CNY of the "new three" products, a growth of 3.2%; Zhuzhou and Xiangtan exported 750 million CNY and 690 million CNY, respectively, with growth rates of 359.5% and 20.3 times. Changde, Huaihua, and Yongzhou saw remarkable export growth, with increases of 118.3 times, 12 times, and 44.2 times, respectively.
The customs authority suggests that the province can leverage its advantages in trade with Africa, strengthen industrial policy guidance, support new energy supporting industries, help more small and medium-sized private enterprises engage in exports, and cultivate new forms and models of foreign trade. Enterprises can focus on the Belt and Road and RCEP markets, incorporate photovoltaic product exports into integrated solutions of "microgrid + energy service," and enhance the bargaining power of photovoltaic products.
