Lou Hongfu, vice chairperson of the Huaihua Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and president of the Huaihua Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), joined a Hunan economic and trade delegation to visit Egypt and Kenya in Africa between April 6 and 11, 2025. The delegation had in-depth matchmaking meetings with trade and investment promotion organizations, industrial and commercial associations, and industrial parks and zones of the two countries. The CCPIT Huaihua Branch and the Hunan Chamber of Commerce in Kenya signed a cooperation agreement, achieving fruitful results.

The CCPIT Huaihua Branch accompanied the delegation to visit the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones of Egypt, the Federation of Egyptian Industries, the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the Yingke Law Firm Egyptian Branch, the Kenya Investment Authority, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Kenya Association of Manufacturers, the Tea Board of Kenya, the Kilimall Kenya National Operation Center, the Agricultural Society of Kenya, Kenyan tea plantations, and the Hunan Chamber of Commerce in Kenya. Huaihua participated in every matchmaking activity held by the delegation, actively promoting Huaihua modern industry, Huaihua hybrid rice and Huaihua International Land Port.

Huaihua City's import and export trade with Africa increased by 113% in 2024, witnessing booming economic and trade cooperation with Africa. The upcoming 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo will be held from June 12 to 15. The construction of the Pioneering Zone for In-depth China-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation will further advance the comprehensive China-Africa trade, investment, and people-to-people exchange in Huaihua City.
