A super-sized shield tunneling machine named "Yuan Meng", with a diameter of 14 meters, rolled off the production line at the China Railway Construction Heavy Industry Corporation Limited (CRCHI) Changsha 2nd Industrial Park on December 16, 2023. This machine was jointly manufactured by CRCHI and the CRCC 14th Bureau Group Corporation. It will be used in the construction of the newly-built Suzhou East Tunnel, which is a part of the Nantong-Ningbo High-speed Railway and reputed as the "No.1 tunnel on the inter-city high-speed railways in China". 

With a total length of 134 meters and a weight of 4,200 tons, the machine will be used in the construction of the Suzhou East Tunnel, a part of the Nantong-Ningbo High-speed Railway. The Suzhou East Tunnel, about 15.6 kilometers long, is currently the longest tunnel under construction on the inter-city high-speed railways in China.

The Nantong-Ningbo High-speed Railway is an important part of the coastal channel of the China's "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network. It will be of great significance to optimizing the high-speed railway layout and promoting integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta areas.
